Amazon began selling arts.
The largest online retailer in the world Amazon launched a platform for art trade - Amazon Art.
According to company’s press release, the division ‘Fine Art’ started on August 6.
At the moment, they sell more than 40,000 art works of nearly 4,500 authors represented by more than 150 galleries and dealers from the U.S., Canada, the UK and the Netherlands.
The cost of works of art range from $ 40 to $ 4.85 million The most expensive on Amazon at the moment is a picture of an American painter and illustrator Norman Rockwell Willie Gillis: Package from Home (Willie Gillis: the sending out of the house), established in 1942. The site also sells Salvador Dali lithographs, paintings and lithographs by Claude Monet and Andy Warhol's autograph.
According to BBC News, Amazon sells either original works or copies in the limited edition.
The company also guarantees that the sale will be to do high-quality work, on each of which will be communicated detailed information. Find works of art can be produced by different characteristics: size, genre, style, images of objects, as well as price.
But don’t expect the lower prices there!
Amazon isn’t offering lower prices and it isn’t offering more information. Rather than giving knowledge to empower viewers, it is disempowering the art and the artist. The democratizing that Amazon would bring has nothing do to with contributing anything, but only to mulishly refuse to play along with elitist sensibilities.
