11 million Facebook users have deleted their accounts because of the spying on the Net

Eleven million Facebook users in the US and the UK have deleted their Facebook accounts in view of recent NSA spy program revelations. The increasing number of users who delete their accounts due to privacy concerns and fear of internet addiction are dubbed as committing "virtual identity suicide."

People are becoming more cautious about privacy in cyberspace because of reports of spying U.S. National Security Agency. These data are presented in the study of the University of Vienna.

According to the survey the most common reason for leaving Facebook (over 48 percent) - the fear for the safety of privacy on the Internet.
