Vladimir Putin's daughter married the son of South Korean admiral.
It has been claimed that Vladimir Putin's youngest daughter married her long-time Korean boyfriend who is the son of a retired South Korean admiral.
The private life of Vladimir Putin and his family is covered by Soviet-style secrecy, so there is little information about Maria Putin and her sister Ekaterina.
Not much is known about Putin’s two daughters, apart from the fact that Maria was born in 1985 in Leningrad (now St. Petersburg) and Yekaterina in 1986 in Dresden, East Germany, while Putin was stationed there during his time in the KGB.
The only official photographs of them are black-and-white images from their early childhood. There are no confirmed photographs of either of the women as adults, although this image, supposedly of Maria with Putin and Lyudmila, has been circulating online. This photo, reportedly of Yekaterina, was published by South Korean media in 2010. The Kremlin has not commented on either photograph.
In 2010, a respected South Korean newspaper reported that Yekaterina had dated the son of a retired admiral who worked at the South Korean embassy in Moscow. The paper even suggested the two would get married. A Kremlin spokesman said the report did “not correspond with reality.”
The assertion that Yekaterina married was made by an authoritative South Korean newspaper.
The English-language ‘JoongAng Daily’ newspaper said it had learnt that Yekaterina would soon marry the son of former Admiral Yoon Jong-Gu who worked at the South Korean embassy in Moscow in the 1990s.
Acording to other sources - Yoon used to work at the Russian branch of Samsung Electronics but resigned when the story first broke. He is reportedly worked for a Russian state-run company after that.
A Korean man has once again denied rumours that he is to marry the youngest daughter of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
The rumours, which were widely reported in the press, "are false," Yoon Joon-won told TV Chosun in an interview.
Yoon has previously spoken about dating Yekaterina Putin for around 10 years. "But we stopped seeing each other a year and a half ago when the press first reported rumours of our impending marriage," Yoon said. "These days we speak to each other once in a while."
It said that Mr Putin had initially been opposed to the marriage but had warmed to his prospective son-in-law after meeting him in person.
The paper said the couple would live in South Korea after the wedding and that they had known each other since 1997 when they met at a dance organised at a Moscow international school. It suggested they had both recently been studying at universities in the United States and had dated in Russia, America and South Korea.
Mr Putin's spokesman denied the report, saying it did "not correspond with reality".
As you can see, the most of the information about Putin’s family are based on rumours and covered by a secret.
Even though Mr Putin is Russia's most famous living politician, ordinary Russians know next to nothing about his daughters and would not recognise them if they saw them in the street.
It’s also unclear what Putin’s daughters do for a living—if anything—and where they live. When pressed, Putin said at a televised news conference in December 2012 that both his daughters live in Moscow, where they’re combining their studies with part-time work. “I’m proud of them,” he said.
