Who to watch in Auckland?
Apparently Gwen Jorgensen and Javier Gomez Noya are World Champions in 2014. They are on the top of the world ranking this year, so we will see the great performance.
Javier Gomez (ESP) said:
“Auckland is probably my favourite race on the circuit I’ve been doing pretty well here, I’ve won three times, it’s a course I like and that suits me well. I always feel good (in Auckland), so that’s a good memory to have but it’s a totally new race going to the start line again, anything can happen.
Also among the top triathlonists are Mario Mola, Richard Murray, Joao Pereira, Vincent Luis, Sarah True (nee Groff), and Kirsten Sweetland , Emma Moffatt as well as Commonwealth Games champion Jodie Stimpson.
And Andrea Hewitt from New Zealand will be among those who is going to win the race. She was fifth in 2015 ITU World Triathlon Abu Dhabi.
Andrea Hewitt (NZL) said about the course:
“It’s certainly tough there are no free rides on this course. There’s three hills each lap and especially with the forecast on Sunday with the rain, it’s going to be even more challenging. It’s going to be good for the New Zealanders who like the hills and I guess the strong athletes.”
Women’s Elite competition will come to Auckland this Sunday. It starts at 12.50 PM at Queens Wharf in Auckland Downtown.
The women’s elite includes:
two-lap harbour swim,
Distance: 1500m - 2 laps of 750m per lap, clockwise direction
Bike Course:
Distance: 40km - 8 laps of 5km per lap, clockwise direction.
and finish it off with a four-lap run course.
Run Course:
Distance: 10km - 4 laps of 2.5km per lap, clockwise direction.
Top fifteen women
(interestingly, no one got start number No 13 and in the men’s elite too).
